Diffuse pulmonary ossification is a relatively rare, well recognized condition, of which a number of reports exist in the literature. While the histologic picture of diffuse pulmonary ossification, with its nodular and dendritic forms, is well know, the pathogenesis is not yet fully clarified; a number of diseases have been claimed to be responsible for, or associated to diffuse pulmonary ossification, but the association with diabetes mellitus is so far undescribed. That's why we report this case, along with the discussion of some pathogenetic hypotheses and differential diagnosis.

Exosomal microRNAs (exomiRs) play a critical role in intercellular communication, especially in cancer, where they regulate key cellular processes like proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis, highlighting their significance as potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Here, we aimed to characterize the role of exomiRs, derived from seven cancer types (four cell lines and three tumors), in influencing the pre-metastatic niche (PMN). In each cancer type we extracted high confidence exomiRs (LogFC >= 2 in exosomes relative to control), their experimentally validated targets, and the enriched pathways among those targets.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells with the potential to differentiate into various lineages. They have also the potential to protect themselves against harmful stimuli to maintain their functional integrity. Drug resistance-related transporters such as ABCB1 (P-glycoprotein; P-gp), ABCC1 (MRP1; multidrug resistance-related Protein 1), and LRP (lung resistance protein) may protect MSCs against toxic substances such as chemotherapeutic agents.

Background: Calcific aortic valve disease is the pathological remodeling of valve leaflets. The initial steps in valve leaflet osteogenic reprogramming are not fully understood. A 76-year-old man with a past occupational history as a firefighter and construction worker presented at an urgent care center with signs and symptoms of chronic dry cough, exertional dyspnea, and fatigue. His initial chest X-ray showed interstitial thickening in the middle and lower lobes with pulmonary infiltrates bilaterally. The patient was treated with an outpatient course of antibiotics.
