[Post-traumatic pulmonary pseudocysts].

Arch Pediatr

Unité de réanimation médicale infantile, Caen, France.

Published: August 1996

Background: Pulmonary pseudocyst is an unusual complication of chest trauma.

Case Report: A 12-year-old boy suffered from a non penetrating chest trauma. Examination was normal except mild hemoptysis. Chest X-rays and tomodensitometry showed several cystic lesions surrounded by areas of pulmonary contusion in the right lower lobe. X-rays performed a few years before the trauma were normal. The cystic lesions progressively disappeared within a few months.

Conclusion: This is a new case of post-traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst whose diagnosis may be difficult until spontaneous cure.

Background: Fetal midgut volvulus is a rare disease, with a high risk of potentially life-threatening fetal complications.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze the imaging findings of fetal midgut volvulus diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and explore its value in non-invasive prenatal diagnosis.

Methods: A retrospective collection of data from 156 fetuses suspected of intestinal obstruction by ultrasound examination in our hospital was conducted.

Rationale: Pancreaticopleural fistula (PPF) is an infrequent etiology of pleural effusion, characterized by nonspecific thoracic symptoms, which often leads to misdiagnosis and subsequent severe complications. Consequently, early diagnosis is crucial for effective management and the prevention of adverse outcomes. This report presents a rare case of PPF causing bilateral pleural effusions, aiming to enhance clinical recognition of this condition.

Meckel-Gruber syndrome (MGS) is a rare disease with a fatal, autosomal recessive inheritance pattern. This article mentions the neonatal MGS case followed by intestinal atresia and meconium pseudocyst clinic. Bile-containing-fluid was aspirated from the fetus, which was found to have polyhydramnios, gastric dilatation, lung hypoplasia, and cystic formation with a diameter of 68*62mm in the abdomen at 32 weeks of gestation in the intrauterine period.

Background: Traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst is a rare "cystlike" lung lesion that typically develops following blunt chest trauma. It differs from lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces in terms of pathogenic mechanisms, clinical manifestations, and radiological features. Furthermore, there are few reports of the diagnostic bias between traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst and lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces.
