Purpose: This study aims to examine the associations of phonological, lexical, and grammatical skills within and between languages in Mandarin-English bilingual preschoolers.
Method: Sixty-three Singaporean Mandarin-English bilingual children aged 3-5 years were assessed for articulation, receptive vocabulary, and receptive grammar using standardized instruments in English and compatible tools in Mandarin. Regression analyses were performed on each language outcome, with other language variables as predictors, controlling for age, nonverbal working memory, and home language environment.

Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) of T1-weighted (T1-w) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is primarily used to study the association of brain structure with cognitive functions. However, in theory, T2-weighted (T2-w) MRI could also be used in VBM studies because of its sensitivity to pathology and tissue changes. We aimed to compare the T1-w and T2-w images to study brain structures in association with cognitive abilities.

Aortic regurgitation is a common valve disease and can be caused by delineated findings such as fenestrations or hardly discernible alterations of the aortic root geometry. Therefore, aortic regurgitation can be a challenging diagnosis during an autopsy. Cardiac surgeons, however, are confronted with comparable problems during surgery and have developed a refined knowledge of the anatomy of the aortic root including its geometry.

This study aims to identify the factors influencing the age of first hospitalization in patients with chronic schizophrenia, focusing on clinical features and blood parameters. A total of 1271 patients diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia were recruited from 17 psychiatric hospitals across China. Demographic and clinical data, including age of first hospitalization, were collected.
