Background: Machine learning is pivotal for predicting Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter-related venous thrombosis (PICC-RVT) risk, facilitating early diagnosis and proactive treatment. Existing models often assess PICC-RVT risk as static and discrete outcomes, which may limit their practical application.
Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of seven diverse machine learning algorithms, including three deep learning and four traditional machine learning models, that incorporate time-series data to assess PICC-RVT risk.

Background: Bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) were developed to overcome limitations related to late stent failures of drug-eluting stents, but lumen reductions over time after implantation of BRS have been reported. This study aimed to investigate if lesion preparation with a scoring balloon compared with a standard noncompliant balloon minimizes lumen reduction after implantation of a Magmaris BRS assessed with optical coherence tomography and intravascular ultrasound.
Methods: Eighty-two patients with stable angina were randomized in a ratio of 1:1 to lesion preparation with a scoring balloon versus a standard noncompliant balloon before implantation of a Magmaris BRS.

The oxygen reserve index (ORi) is a novel, non-invasive parameter that estimates arterial oxygen partial pressure (PaO) during hyperoxia when the fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO) is elevated. This study aimed to assess the utility of the ORi/FiO ratio as an index for quantifying F-shunt, serving as an estimate of venous admixture. Anesthetic records were reviewed from 44 dogs undergoing general anesthesia and requiring arterial catheterization.

Importance: The current definition of central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) may overestimate the true incidence of CLABSI as it is often unclear whether the bloodstream infection (BSI) is secondary to the central line or due to another infectious source.
Objectives: We aimed to assess the prevalence and outcomes of central CLABSI at our institution, to identify opportunities for improvement, appropriately direct efforts for infection reduction, and identify gaps in the CLABSI definition and its application as a quality measure.
Design Setting And Participants: Retrospective cross-sectional study of patients identified to have a CLABSI in the period 2018-2022 cared for at the value-based purchasing (VBP) units of a 1200-bed tertiary care hospital located in Cleveland, OH.
