Aim: To investigate the association between Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation 2 (SCORE2) and subclinical damage in two vascular beds: atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries and aortic arterial stiffness, in a large population-based cohort without cardiovascular disease or diabetes.

Methods: A cross-sectional study based on Swedish CArdio Pulmonary bioImaging Study (SCAPIS) data. A population-based cohort of 3087 participants aged 50-64.

Objective: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a major cause of atherosclerosis, as well as an independent risk factor of cardiovascular adverse events. We aimed to evaluate the association of serum Meteorin-like protein (Metrnl) level with carotid atherosclerosis as determined by carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) status in subjects with T2DM.

Methods: This cross-sectional study included 83 T2DM subjects without pre-existing cardiovascular diseases.

Foot ulceration is a significant and growing health problem worldwide, particularly due to rises in diabetes mellitus (DM) and peripheral artery disease. The prediction of ulcer healing remains a major challenge. In patients with foot ulcers, medial arterial calcification (MAC) can be present as a result of concomitant DM or chronic kidney disease and is a prognostic factor for unfavorable outcome.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a progressive metabolic disorder that could be an underlying cause of long-term complications that increase mortality. The assessment of the probability of such events could be essential for mortality risk management. This work aimed to establish a framework for risk predictions of macrovascular complications (MVC) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in patients with T2D, using real-world data from the Swedish National Diabetes Registry (NDR), in the presence of mortality as a competing risk.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a metabolic disease associated with cardiovascular dysfunction. The myocardium preferentially uses ketones over free fatty acids as a more energy efficient substrate. The primary aim was to assess the effects of ketone monoester (K) ingestion on cardiac output index ().
