A high resistance level has been detected in certain Culex pipiens populations after seven years of chlorpyrifos larval treatments in the Montpellier area (Southern France). The highest rate recorded in 1973 was x 15, in 1974 x 33,3, in 1975 x 47 and in 1976 x 73. The resistance level depends on the application frequency of this larvicide and the various biotope types. "Closed populations" are subjected to a higher selection pressure than "open populations". It is now necessary to find a replacement compound for chlorpyrifos as there is a quick reinfestation and thus the treatment frequency had to be increased these last two years.

Background: is the vector of a large number of pathogens in humans. Use of insecticides to deal with this vector is the most important way to controlling it. However, in recent decades, resistance to insecticides has been reported in this vector.

Interactions between microbial communities and the host can modulate mosquito biology, including vector competence. Therefore, future vector biocontrol measures will utilize these interactions and require extensive monitoring of the mosquito microbiome. Metabarcoding strategies will be useful for conducting vector monitoring on a large scale.

A series of novel triazone derivatives containing aldehyde hydrazone or ketone hydrazone moieties were designed, synthesized and their biological activities were investigated against , , , , and 14 Kinds of fungi. Most of the aldehyde hydrazone exhibited excellent insecticidal activities against . In particular, the aphicidal activities of compounds (35%) and (30%) were equivalent to pymetrozine (30%) at 5 mg/kg.

Zoos are considering to be essential places for the conservation of wild animal species. It is essential to prevent their infection by pathogens especially for those belonging to threatened or extinct species. Zoo captive animals are susceptible to several Culicoides and mosquito borne-viruses.

and mosquitoes, known for spreading arboviruses like dengue and West Nile, thrive in cities, posing health risks to urban populations. Climate change can create suitable climatic conditions for these vectors to spread further in Europe. Cities contain numerous landscape and infrastructure elements, such as storm drains, that allow stagnant water build-up facilitating mosquito breeding.
