They are communicated the results of a study of the obtained responses as compared to D. pteronyssinus in function of the mcg/ml of antigen contents in an extract in the one which was characterized and quantified the allergen greater than represents 42% of the extracts. The interrelation analysis dose-response offers a value of r = 0.835, with a meaning level of 99% and the up spacing +/-28. The found regression equation was y = 0.235 x 9.047.

Background: Birch pollen (BP) interacts with airway epithelial cells to cause allergic sensitization and allergy in predisposed individuals. However, the basic mechanisms underlying the clinical effects are poorly understood. Changes in gene expression and cytokine secretion in nasal mucosal cells upon BP exposure were determined in BP-allergic and non-allergic individuals.

Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES) is a rare cause of exertional leg pain in young adults, which is caused by compression of the popliteal artery by the surrounding muscular structure. Due to significant overlap in symptoms with other conditions, limitations of diagnostic imaging, and lack of awareness, PAES is frequently misdiagnosed, resulting in late complications and poor prognosis. Clinical assessment is crucial in making the initial diagnosis and referring for relevant investigations for PAES.

In patients with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), there is disparate regulation of prostaglandin E2 (PGE) and prostaglandin D (PGD). Both prostanoids are synthesised by cyclooxygenase 1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2). However, while the basal synthesis of PGE tends to decrease, that of PGD increases in patients with AERD.

Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug-exacerbated respiratory disease: molecular mechanism, management and treatment.

Front Allergy

IAPA 's Clinic, Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias, Ismael Cosío Villegas, Ciudad de México, México.

It has been estimated that Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (N-ERD) previously named as Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (A-ERD) affects around 1.4 million persons in the United States. Its prevalence in asthmatic patients has widely been underestimated, as a considerable number of patients would need an aspirin provocation test to confirm the diagnosis.

Background And Objectives: This study compared nasal provocation test (NPT) results between groups with and without chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) to investigate whether CRSwNP affects the response to the intranasal allergen challenge.

Methods: We reviewed the medical records of patients who had undergone the NPT, multiple allergen simultaneous test (MAST), and paranasal sinus computed tomography. Patients were diagnosed with CRSwNP based on findings from nasal endoscopy and paranasal sinus computed tomography.
