Article Synopsis
  • Vaccines have played a crucial role in controlling pandemics since the smallpox vaccine, including the recent COVID-19 outbreak, by activating various immune cells like CD4 and CD8 T cells and B cells.
  • Research shows that specific T regulatory cells, like Treg and Tr1, influence how effective vaccines are, especially for immunocompromised individuals.
  • Strategies to enhance vaccine efficacy include adjusting dosages, changing administration routes, giving booster shots, and using monoclonal antibodies to minimize Treg activity and stimulate stronger immune responses.

Host remodeling of decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) material through the appropriate involvement of immune cells is essential for achieving functional organ/tissue regeneration. As many studies have focused on the role of macrophages, only few have evaluated the role of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in dECM remodeling. In this study, we used a mouse model of traumatic muscle injury to determine the role of Tregs in the constructive remodeling of vascular-derived dECM.

Interleukin-2/anti-interleukin-2 complex attenuates inflammation in a mouse COPD model by expanding CD4 CD25 Foxp3 regulatory T cells.

Int Immunopharmacol

April 2024

Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Beijing, China; National Center for Respiratory Medicine, Beijing, China; State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Health and Multimorbidity, China. Electronic address:

Background And Purpose: Chronic, nonspecific inflammation of the alveoli and airways is an important pathological feature of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), while sustained inflammatory reactions can cause alveolar damage. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) inhibit inflammation, whereas the interleukin-2/anti-interleukin-2 complex (IL-2C) increases the number of Tregs; however, whether the IL-2C has a therapeutic role in COPD remains unknown. Therefore, this study investigated whether IL-2C alleviates lung inflammation in COPD by increasing the number of Tregs.

Establishing a novel and sensitive assay for bioactivity determination of anti-CD25 antibodies.

Heliyon

June 2023

Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Health for Research on Quality and Standardization of Biotech, Division of Monoclonal Antibody Products, National Institutes for Food and Drug Control, Beijing 102629, China.

Anti-CD25 antibodies have been approved for renal transplantation and has been used prior to and during transplantation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, no reported bioassays have been reflected the mechanism of action (MOA) of anti-CD25 antibodies. Here, we describe the development and validation of a reporter gene assay (RGA) based on the engineered C8166-STAT5RE-Luc cells expressing endogenous IL-2 receptors and a STAT5-inducible element-driven firefly luciferase in C8166 cell lines.
