Objective: The treatment of comminuted inferior pole patellar fractures has long posed a challenge for orthopedic surgeons. This study aims to compare the biomechanical stability and clinical efficacy of Kirschner wire tension band combined with anchor cross-suture fixation versus traditional partial patellectomy in the treatment of comminuted inferior pole patellar fractures.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 14 patients who underwent Kirschner wire tension band combined with anchor cross-suture fixation (Group A) in our department of orthopedics from September 2020 to April 2022.

We present the case of a woman in her 70s who sustained a comminuted open ankle fracture, with garden soil contamination of the wound, which was treated according to orthoplastic principles. The patient developed osteomyelitis 6 months postsurgery.

Modern techniques of rib fracture fixation surgery follow the AO principles of fracture reduction, fixation, and appropriate soft tissue handling. Fixation techniques can be performed using anatomic reduction and rigid fixation, or bridge plate fixation for comminuted fractures. Anatomic and nonanatomic plates can be used, although titanium precontoured locking plates are the most commonly used.

Introduction: This report describes the use of a combination of a retrograde femoral nail and distal femur locking plate for the treatment of an open intra-articular distal femur fracture in a 99-year-old female. The purpose of this report is to highlight that nail-plate fixation constructs can be performed percutaneously and expeditiously even in extremely old patients; therefore, patient age should not be a limiting factor in choosing this construct to allow for immediate weight-bearing.
Case Report: The patient was a 99-year-old female who presented to the emergency room after a fall.
