A colorimetric method, based on the Kober reaction, was adapted for the determination of urinary estrogens during pregnancy. The method yields final volumes for direct measurements by a multichannel computer-controlled photometer. The speed of the analysis was increased so that 100 samples can easily be completed by one laboratory technician as triplicate analyses during one working day. A satisfactory accuracy and precision of the method were also achieved. The values were determined using urine samples from 1097 apparently healthy pregnant women.

Low magnesium (Mg) intake increases the risk of various diseases such as anxiety disorder, depression, and diabetes. However, a reliable biomarker of mild Mg deficiency due to low Mg intake has not yet been identified. We speculate that metabolomics will be effective for biomarker discovery because Mg can affect various metabolic processes in the body.

Objectives: We aimed to: (1) explore the effect of oral potassium supplementation on urinary potassium excretion, and (2) evaluate the value of urinary potassium-related indicators in distinguishing primary aldosteronism (PA) from non-PA patients.
Design And Methods: A prospective study of 20 patients with hypertension and hypokalemia caused by renal potassium loss between November 2023 and April 2024 was conducted. Demographic features, 24-hour urine collection before and after potassium supplementation were all collected.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of hysterectomy for benign uterine tumors on subsequent ovarian reserve, sexual function, and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
Methods: The present study was a prospective longitudinal analysis that recruited patients aged 35-45 years who underwent simple hysterectomy without oophorectomy for symptomatic benign uterine tumors. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and serum sex hormone profiles, including follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol, progesterone, and total testosterone, were measured at four timepoints: before hysterectomy, and 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively.
