We describe 2 case reports dealing with accidental hypothermia in which continuous veno-venous haemofiltration and dialysis (CVVHD) in combination with hyperinfusion with heated crystalloids was used as a rewarming technique. In this way it also is possible to correct metabolic disturbances, even during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Animal thermoregulation may have significant costs and compete directly or indirectly with other energetically demanding processes, such as immune function. Although the subterranean environment is characterized by thermally-stable conditions, small changes in ambient temperature could be critical in shaping immunity. However, little is known about the effects of ambient temperature, in naturally varying ranges, on immunity of wild species.

Subcutaneous fat necrosis (SCFN) in newborns is an uncommon and self-limiting non-infectious panniculitis. It can occur in the first weeks of life in full-term newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy who underwent therapeutic hypothermia. Hypercalcemia may develop and has been implicated as the cause of several complications as nephrocalcinosis.

Objective: To systematically review evidence from high income countries on health risks from cold weather exposure among people experiencing homelessness (PEH) and assess evidence on risk-reduction interventions and their effectiveness.
Study Design: Narrative systematic review.
Methods: Keyword-structured searches were performed in CINAHL, Emcare, Medline, SocINDEX, Scopus, OpenGrey, Social Policy and Practice and Web of Science, and supplemented by grey literature searches in a selection of other databases, from 1973 to 2024.

Aim: To describe the long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of asphyxiated neonates treated with hypothermia in association with neonatal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings.
Methods: We evaluated, retrospectively, clinical and radiological single-centre data at 0, 2, and 5 years of age of 53 asphyxiated neonates born between 2005 and 2015. Neonatal cranial MRI was re-evaluated using the Weeke score ranging from 0 (normal finding) to 55 (cerebral devastation) by a single neuroradiologist blinded to patient outcomes.
