Background: During orthotopic liver transplantation, allograft reperfusion is a dynamic point in the operation and often requires vasoactive medications and blood transfusions. Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) of liver allografts has emerged to increase the number of transplantable organs and may have utility during donation after circulatory death (DCD) liver transplantation in reducing transfusion burden and vasoactive medication requirements.
Methods: This is a single-center retrospective study involving 226 DCD liver transplant recipients who received an allograft transported with NMP (DCD-NMP group) or with static cold storage (DCD-SCS group).

While the effect of time-of-day (morning versus evening) on hormones, lipids and lipolysis has been studied in relation to meals and exercise, there are no studies that have investigated the effects of time-of-day on ice bath induced hormone and lipidome responses. In this crossover-designed study, a group of six women and six men, 26 ± 5 years old, 176 ± 7 cm tall, weighing 75 ± 10 kg, and a BMI of 23 ± 2 kg/mhad an ice bath (8-12 °C for 5 min) both in the morning and evening on separate days. Absence from intense physical exercise, nutrient intake and meal order was standardized in the 24 h prior the ice baths to account for confounders such as diet or exercise.

Background: Production of platelet concentrates (PCs) involves several steps that significantly affect platelet behavior. To gain a deeper understanding of how storage conditions impact donor platelet recirculation and functionality post-transfusion, ex vivo platelet labeling is a feasible approach. However, before pursuing clinical investigations of platelet recirculation and function in humans, we aimed to determine the effects of pathogen inactivation technology (PIT) and storage conditions (4°C vs.

Background: Amphiregulin (AREG) is a growth factor linked to cardioprotection and heart pathology during myocardial stress. Our aim was to investigate cardiac expression, its potential as a postmortem hypothermia marker and its possible stress hormone dependency in different types of deaths.
Materials And Methods: Heart RNA was isolated from hypothermic, cardiac and non-cardiac deaths.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the efficacy of oral premedication with ibuprofen on the anesthetic efficacy of inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) using 2% lignocaine and 1:100000 epinephrine in tobacco-chewing (TC) and non-tobacco-chewing (NTC) patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP) during nonsurgical endodontic intervention (NEI).
Methods: This multicenter, prospective, double-blind, two-arm parallel-group randomized controlled trial involving 160 patients was conducted for a period of 9 months. The patients were classified into the study (TC patients) and control (NTC patients) groups, which were subdivided into two subgroups 1 hour before the procedure based on oral premedication with tab ibuprofen 600 mg.
