Background: Invasive fungal sinusitis, particularly mucormycosis, presents a significant clinical challenge, especially in pediatric populations. This retrospective epidemiologic study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics, risk factors and outcomes associated with this rare but severe condition, with a focus on orbital morbidity.
Methods: Clinical data of 12 pediatric patients diagnosed with invasive fungal sinusitis between 2021 and 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.

Introduction: A sharp upsurge in the number of coronavirus disease-associated mucormycosis cases was noted during the second wave of coronavirus disease in India. The fungal hyphae spread from the nasal mucosa, orbit to the brain, hence otherwise called rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis (ROCM). Prompt diagnosis and early initiation of treatment with amphotericin B, aggressive surgical debridement of the PNS, and orbital exenteration, where indicated, are essential for successful outcome.

Purpose: The purpose was to study the demographics, clinical and radiological presenting patterns, prognostic variables, and outcome of management of rhino-orbital-cerebral-mucormycosis (ROCM) in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed COVID-19 patients with proven ROCM from April 2021 to November 2021. All included patients were given systemic antifungal therapy depending on clinical response and underwent functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) with orbital wall decompression.

Drug resistance against bacteria and fungi has become common in recent years, and it is urgent to discover novel antimicrobial peptides to manage this problem. Many antimicrobial peptides from insects have been reported to have antifungal activity and are candidate molecules in the treatment of human diseases. In the present study, we characterized an antifungal peptide named blapstin that was isolated from the Chinese medicinal beetle Blaps rhynchopetera used in folk medicine.
