Chinese coral snakes () are highly neglected regarding their venom profiles and harm to humans, which impedes our ability to deeply understand their biological properties and explore their medicinal potential. In this study, we performed a comparative analysis to reveal the venom profiles of two Chinese coral snakes in terms of their venom yields, proteomic profiles, and immunorecognition by commercial antivenoms. The results showed that expels more venom (lyophilized venom mass) than but possesses a similar solid venom content.

Construction of a Vero cell line expression human KREMEN1 for the development of CVA6 vaccines.

Virol J

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Vaccines for Infectious Diseases, Xiang An Biomedicine Laboratory, School of Life Sciences, School of Public Health, Xiamen University, Xiamen, 361102, PR China.

Coxsackievirus A6 (CVA6) has emerged as a major pathogen causing hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreaks worldwide. The CVA6 epidemic poses a new challenge in HFMD control since there is currently no vaccine available against CVA6 infections. The Vero cell line has been widely used in vaccine production, particularly in the preparation of viral vaccines, including poliovirus vaccines and EV71 vaccines.

Hazelnuts are frequently involved in IgE-mediated reactions and are the main cause of nut allergies in Europe. Most food products are processed before human consumption. Food processing can modify the structure, properties, and function of proteins, and as a result, the IgE-binding capacity of allergens can be affected.

SARS-CoV-2 vaccine based on ferritin complexes with screened immunogenic sequences from the Fv-antibody library.

J Mater Chem B

January 2025

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Yonsei University, 50 Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul 03722, Korea.

In this study, the vaccine against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was developed using ferritin complexes with the immunogenic sequences screened against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (SP) from the Fv-antibody library. The Fv-antibody library was prepared on the outer membrane of by the expression of the V region of immunoglobulin G (IgG) with a randomized complementarity-determining region 3 (CDR3). Four Fv-antibodies to the receptor-binding domain (RBD) were screened from the Fv-antibody library, which had a comparable binding constant () between SARS-CoV-2 SP and the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor.
