Study Design: Description of a new operative techniques for anterior lumbar and lumbosacral fusion using an anterior approach optimized by video assistance.
Objectives: To propose a less invasive technique for anterior lumbar fusion with low-grade morbidity.
Summary Of Background Data: Either anterior transperitoneal or anterolateral extraperitoneal approaches commonly are performed, but each involves specific drawbacks. The authors attempted to modify and simplify these approaches with the addition of retroperitonoscopy.
Methods: A small, vertical 4- to 5-cm inclusion is made on the midline, centered on the umbilicus for the L4-L5 approach and halfway between umbilicus and public symphysis for the L5-S1 approach. The peritoneum is dissected from the left abdominal wall, and the anterior aspect of the spine progressively is exposed. The endoscope is introduced laterally, providing excellent visualization of the prevertebral area. A specially designed retractor allows retraction of the iliac vessels.
Results: A midline anterior approach allows disc resection and grafting in a strict midline position. The extraperitoneal approach simplifies the postoperative course. Video assistance permits an approach to the spine by a short incision and facilitates the prevertebral dissection. Surgery with video assistance should be differentiated from true endoscopic surgery, which is performed under CO2 insufflation with exclusive endoscopic vision.
Conclusions: Video assistance allows for an anterior extraperitoneal approach in the lumbar spine and has the potential for lower morbidity, increasing the possibilities of anterior fusion in the management of lumber disc disease.

Background: Individuals with hearing impairments may face hindrances in health care assistance, which may significantly impact the prognosis and the incidence of complications and iatrogenic events. Therefore, the development of automatic communication systems to assist the interaction between this population and health care workers is paramount.
Objective: This study aims to systematically review the evidence on communication systems using human-computer interaction techniques developed for deaf people who communicate through sign language that are already in use or proposed for use in health care contexts and have been tested with human users or videos of human users.

Background: Huntington's disease (HD) is a rare neurodegenerative disease that causes progressive cognitive, physical, and psychiatric symptoms. Computerised cognitive training (CCT) is a novel intervention that aims to improve and maintain cognitive functions through repeated practice. The effects of CCT have yet to be established in HD.

Electrophysiological mapping and monitoring techniques permit the objective measurement of eloquent cortical regions and accompanying white matter tracts to reduce the incidence of iatrogenic injury in glioma surgery. Recently, there has been increased interest in mapping and monitoring of the human arcuate fasciculus via cortico-cortical evoked potentials (CCEPs) during awake and asleep craniotomy. The authors present the case of a 27-year-old female who underwent a hypnosis-assisted awake craniotomy with cortico-subcortical language mapping and arcuate fasciculus CCEPs.

Introduction: The future of training in second trimester surgical abortions with dilation and evacuation (D&E) procedures faces ongoing legal and political scrutiny; thus, adjuncts to standard clinical experiences are exceedingly important. We sought to build medical trainees' surgical familiarity with D&Es using a realistic simulation model.
Methods: The simulation began with an instructional video reviewing accessible and affordable materials used to build the fetal model (vaginal swabs, styrofoam ball, and putty) and the uterine model (collapsible water bottle).

Objective: We investigated the impact of intraoperative tumor capsule injury (TCI) during robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) or laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) on oncological outcomes, as well as underlying factors of intraoperative TCI for improving surgical outcomes.
Methods: A total of 253 patients who underwent RAPN or LPN between 2010 and 2022 were retrospectively analyzed and were divided into two groups: non-TCI and TCI groups. The background was compared between two groups.
