Background: Obesity is associated with varying degrees of metabolic dysfunction. In this study, we aimed to discover markers of the severity of metabolic impairment in men with obesity via a multiomics approach.
Methods: Thirty-two morbidly men with obesity who were candidates for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery were prospectively followed.

A literature search was conducted to include case studies, case series, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses within the last 10 years that evaluated patients with mutated hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative metastatic breast cancer.

Impaired insulin secretion contributes to the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus through autoimmune destruction of pancreatic β-cells and the pathogenesis of severe forms of type 2 diabetes mellitus through β-cell dedifferentiation and other mechanisms. Replenishment of malfunctioning β-cells via islet transplantation has the potential to induce long-term glycemic control in the body. However, this treatment option cannot widely be implemented in clinical due to healthy islet donor shortage.

Introduction: Sotalol is a beta-adrenoceptor blocking drug with unique physical and pharmacologic properties. Unlike most beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs, sotalol is amenable to extracorporeal removal and causes QT interval prolongation and ventricular dysrhythmias. These properties have implications for treating sotalol poisoning.

Background: Patients hospitalized with moderately severe or acute severe ulcerative colitis (UC) may experience metabolic disturbances, including alterations in insulin resistance due to inflammation and the administration of glucocorticoids (GCs). This pilot study aimed to evaluate insulin sensitivity in patients hospitalized for moderately severe to severe UC.
Method: Patients hospitalized for moderately-severely active UC at Örebro University Hospital, Sweden, were eligible for inclusion.
