A 55-year-old man with the classical mucocutaneous lesions of xanthoma disseminatum has been followed up for a period of 13 years. The special features of this case, which make it unique, are as follows: (1) the availability of histologic data on multiple lesions for more than a ten-year period; (2) the progressive nature of the multiple osseous lesions; (3) the metabolic studies that show no evidence for accumulation of abnormal sterols in a xanthoma, the blood, or intestinal aspirate; (4) the development of hypothyroidism and symptoms or signs, or both, of an intracerebral and an intraspinal lesion; (5) the partial regression of the cutanous symptoms and lesions while receiving clofibrate, in spite of progression of the mucous membrane and osseous lesions, and (6) the failure to develop diabetes insipidus to date.

Juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) is the most common type of non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis and is characterized by a benign proliferation of dermal dendrocytes. We report two children diagnosed with JXG with reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), a noninvasive imaging technology that allows for multi-layer visualization of the skin. This report demonstrates the emerging role of RCM as a painless diagnostic aid for JXG and other cutaneous diseases in children.

This retrospective cohort study aims to analyze the factors influencing the mortality risk in adult patients with sHLH, which are instrumental to improving our understanding of the high mortality risks associated with sHLH. Objective: Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis that exhibits a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. The recent identification of activating mutations in the MAPK-ERK pathway in patients with ECD has led to the introduction of targeted therapies. The most commonly used targeted therapies are BRAF- and MEK-inhibitors, which are highly effective but also carry significant toxicity.
