Western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) is an invasive agricultural pest with developed resistance to abamectin in some strains due to frequent treatment with the pesticide. In this study, we examined differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) between abamectin-resistant (Aba; under abamectin selective pressure) and susceptible strains (Aba; without abamectin selective pressure) of F. occidentalis.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most widespread neurodegenerative disorder. Recently, it was found that mucus extract from has beneficial effects on memory and cognitive processes in a rat scopolamine model of AD. The present study elucidated the mechanisms of action of standardized mucus snail extract (SE) enriched with a fraction above 20 kDa on Alzheimer-type dementia in rats.

Plant somatic embryogenesis encompasses somatic cells switch into embryogenic cells that can later produce somatic embryos with the ability to produce plantlets. Previously, we defined culture settings for the somatic embryogenesis process of that comprise adequate plantlets with auxin plus cytokinin followed by cut-leaf explant cultivation with cytokinin, producing embryos with the ability to regenerate plantlets. Here, we confirmed that cultivating cut-leaf explants with cytokinin is sufficient to promote somatic embryos proliferation and the high yield of somatic embryos in the protocol requires adequate plantlets with auxin plus cytokinin.
