The nursing profession has a long tradition of evaluating the quality of its product in order to ensure that the best possible care can be given. However, in the climate of economic rationalism which prevails worldwide, it is possible that the emphasis on fiscal restraint has distracted nurses from their previous focus on quality. This paper discusses the findings of two research studies designed to determine the competencies expected of nursing unit managers and clinical nurse specialists. Discussion focuses specifically on their roles in the provision of quality care.

Objective: Analysis of the effectiveness of the use of the drug Cytoflavin and the organization of the activities of nursing staff, within the framework of nursing care, in the complex therapy of patients with spinal cord injury (PSMT).
Material And Methods: Material and methods. 40 patients with PSMT due to a gunshot wound were examined, who were divided into two equal groups depending on the type of therapy performed: group 1 patients received the full volume of stage I medical rehabilitation (with additional use of neurodevelopmental techniques under the supervision of a Bobata department nurse) and standard drug therapy, including a course of intravenous Cytoflavin infusions followed by tablet form; group 2 patients received the full volume of stage I medical rehabilitation and standard drug therapy, but did not receive Cytoflavin.

Background: The satisfaction of patients with sedation by nursing staff is an issue of interest for the quality of health care, influencing the recovery and well-being of patients as well as their confidence in and adherence to treatment. One of the most frequently performed diagnostic and therapeutic tests requiring sedation are digestive endoscopies, so it would be interesting to study satisfaction in these services.
