Prompt, thorough evaluation is needed when patients present with symptoms of renal colic, acute urinary retention, prostatitis, pyelonephritis, and other urologic emergencies. Primary care physicians have an important role in initial workup and treatment. Once the diagnosis is determined, urologic consultation may be necessary for definitive treatment.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a predominant cause of cancer-related mortality globally, noted for its propensity towards late-stage diagnosis and scarcity of effective treatment modalities. The process of metabolic reprogramming, with a specific emphasis on lipid metabolism, is instrumental in the progression of HCC. Nevertheless, the precise mechanisms through which lipid metabolism impacts HCC and its viability as a therapeutic target have yet to be fully elucidated.

Our study aims to investigate the role of pyrimidine metabolism in prostate cancer and its associations with the immune microenvironment, drug sensitivity, and tumor mutation burden. Through transcriptomic and single-cell RNA sequencing analyses, we explored metabolic pathway enrichment, immune infiltration patterns, and differential gene expression in prostate cancer samples. The results showed that pyrimidine metabolism-related genes were significantly upregulated in the P2 subgroup compared to the P1 subgroup, with enhanced metabolic activity observed in basal and luminal epithelial cells.

Introduction: Racial disparities in prostate cancer (PC) are well studied among Black or African American (BAA) patients but not among Hispanics, a quickly growing US minority group. This study compared overall survival (OS) and healthcare resource utilization (HRU) by race in Medicaid-insured patients with metastatic castration-sensitive PC (mCSPC) and metastatic castration-resistant PC (mCRPC).
Materials And Methods: A retrospective longitudinal cohort study of Medicaid claims was conducted to estimate racial disparities in OS (with a multivariable Cox proportional hazards model) and in HRU (with a multivariable Poisson model), adjusting for confounding by demographic and clinical characteristics.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) has become a disease of global concern due to its high morbidity and mortality. This has highlighted the need for renoprotective agents. Astragaloside IV (AS-IV) is a saponin isolated from Astragalus membranaceus with good antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties.

Background: Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a prevailing manifestation of acute kidney injury (AKI) with limited treatment options. TRIM44 has emerged as a possible target for treatment due to its regulatory function in inflammatory pathways.
Methods: In vivo and in vitro models were employed to ascertain the TRIM44 impact on renal IRI.
