As the amount of hospital positions dwindles for the graduating nurse, more are looking for initial employment in home health care. A rural home healthcare agency in Virginia developed a preceptor program that effectively helps new graduates to make the transition to the home care nursing role by use of a 13-week orientation program using preceptors and clinical time in the hospital.

Effects of psilocybin on mouse brain microstructure.

AJNR Am J Neuroradiol

January 2025

From the Department of Radiology (P.C.F., A.P.S., J.J.Y.).

Background And Purpose: There is surging interest in the therapeutic potential of psychedelic compounds like psilocybin in the treatment of psychiatric illnesses like major depressive disorder (MDD). Recent studies point to the rapid antidepressant effect of psilocybin; however, the biological mechanisms underlying these differences remain unknown. This study determines the feasibility of using diffusion MRI to characterize and define the potential spatiotemporal microstructural differences in the brain following psilocybin treatment in C57BL/6J male mice.

Purpose: To promote orientation about cleft lip and palate and to verify knowledge and satisfaction of an orientation program through a website developed for students and health professionals.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, 13 healthcare professionals and 81 students from the areas of nursing, speech-language pathologist, medicine, nutrition, dentistry, and psychology participated. The research consisted of three stages: filling out a pre-program questionnaire, accessing the website (http://fissuralabiopalatina.

The use of Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) reflectors is often proposed in the design of X-ray Crystal Spectroscopy (XCS) diagnostic systems for the next-generation tokamak devices, including the ITER project. This study introduces an experimental study based on the X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD) method to evaluate the performance of HOPG reflectors. The experimental method provides both the angular responses and the reflectivities of the HOPG reflectors.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a powerful tool to identify the structural and functional correlates of neurological illness but provides limited insight into molecular neurobiology. Using rat genetic models of autism spectrum disorder, we show that image texture-processed neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) diffusion MRI possesses an intrinsic relationship with gene expression that corresponds to the biophysically modeled cellular compartments of the NODDI diffusion signal. Specifically, we demonstrate that neurite density index and orientation dispersion index signals are correlated with intracellular and extracellular gene expression, respectively.
