Excessive total suspended matter (TSM) concentrations can exert a considerable impact on the growth of aquatic organisms in fishponds, representing a significant risk to aquaculture health. This study revised existing unified models using empirical data to develop an optimized TSM retrieval model tailored for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) (R = 0.69, RMSE = 7.

A rapid and accurate biosensor for detecting disease biomarkers at point-of-care is essential for early disease diagnosis and preventing pandemics. CRISPR-Cas12a is a promising recognition element for DNA biosensors due to its programmability, specificity, and deoxyribonuclease activity initiated in the presence of a biomarker. The current electrochemical CRISPR-Cas12a-based biosensors utilize the single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) self-assembled on an electrode surface and covalently modified with the redox indicator, usually methylene blue (MB).

Background: Viral epidemics have long endangered human health and had dramatic impacts on environment and society. The currently known viruses and the rapid emergence of previously unknown viruses lead to an urgent need for effective virus detection strategies. It is important to develop methods that can detect multiple related viruses simultaneously in order to improve detection efficiency and to avoid treatment delays due to misdiagnoses.

Static cold storage of donor livers at 4 °C incompletely arrests metabolism, ultimately leading to decreases in ATP levels, oxidative stress, cell death, and organ failure. Hydrogen Sulfide (HS) is an endogenously produced gas, previously demonstrated to reduce oxidative stress, reduce ATP depletion, and protect from ischemia and reperfusion injury. HS is difficult to administer due to its rapid release curve, resulting in cellular death at high concentrations.

Purpose: Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) has been considered for managing cancer pain; however, limited research has been conducted on optimizing continuous infusion rates with PCA. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a method that optimizes background infusion (BI) alongside PCA for titrating intravenous (IV) morphine in managing cancer-related pain.
Methods: Forty-four patients with solid tumors who could not manage pain with oral or transdermal opioid analgesics were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive IV morphine through PCA or the conventional method.
