Cannabidiol (CBD), a specialized metabolite (phytocannabinoid) abundant in Cannabis sativa, is attracting increasing attention for its alleged health-promoting properties. The present study aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetics of CBD and its primary metabolite, 7-hydroxy-cannabidiol (7-OH-CBD), following a single oral dose of a CBD-rich Cannabis sativa extract, equivalent to 70 mg CBD, in healthy male (n=5) and female (n=6) participants. Using a randomized crossover design, the study evaluated the impact of a standardized high-fat meal compared to fasting on the oral bioavailability of CBD.

Background: Research into oxidative stress, cancer, and natural products revealed promising avenues for therapeutic intervention. Natural products are considered potent pharmaceuticals in combating oxidative stress and its relationship with cancer.

Methods: This study was carried out to evaluate the chemical profile and antioxidant activities using DPPH, ABTS, Phenanthroline, Cupric, Phosphomolybdenum, FRAP, Hydroxyl, Iron chelation in vitro assays, and anticancer properties by MTT method of Cistus creticus extracts.

Article Synopsis
  • Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major cause of cancer deaths, and oxaliplatin (OXA) is a primary treatment that faces challenges due to the tumor microenvironment (TME).
  • A new multifunctional nanosystem, Rg3-Lip-OXA/CaO, uses Ginsenoside Rg3 liposomes to target CRC cells, delivering OXA and calcium peroxide (CaO) together.
  • Research showed that this nanosystem had good stability and release properties, effectively targeted cancer cells, and significantly suppressed tumor growth in mice, while also showing manageable acute toxicity.

Purpose: HA121-28, a novel multi-targeting tyrosine kinase inhibitor, has dual efficacy against tumor growth and neovascularization. The objectives of this study were to assess the effect of high-fat and high-calorie food on the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile and safety of HA121-28 tablet in healthy subjects.

Patients And Methods: A single-dose, randomized, open-label, two-period, crossover-designed phase I clinical trial was conducted.

Purpose: Major depressive disorder is one of the most common and burdensome psychiatric disorders worldwide. This study evaluated the anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like activity of three semi-synthetic derivatives of xylopic acid (XA) to identify the most promising derivative based on mechanism(s) of action, in vivo pharmacokinetics and in vitro cytotoxicity.

Methods: The anxiolytic potential and the involvement of GABAergic mechanisms were assessed in the elevated plus-maze and open field tests in mice.
