Objective: This study was undertaken to examine the accuracy of frozen section for the identification of products of conception on curettage of patients undergoing surgery for suspected ectopic pregnancy.
Study Design: A retrospective analysis of 87 consecutive cases in which frozen-section assessment of an endometrial curettage specimen to identify products of conception was undertaken. A frozen-section diagnosis was considered correct if the final diagnosis concurred with the findings at frozen section.
Results: Eighty-one of 87 (93.1%) specimens were correctly identified at frozen section. Frozen section had a sensitivity of 78.3% and a specificity of 98.4%. The positive predictive value of frozen section in this population was 94.7% and the negative predictive value was 92.6%. No significant correlation was found regarding the attending pathologist at frozen section, preoperative human chorionic gonadotropin, or time of day at frozen section.
Conclusions: Frozen section is accurate for the identification of products of conception on endometrial curettage in the evaluation of a suspected ectopic pregnancy.

It has been debated whether endometriosis (EMS) adversely affects oocyte quality, potentially leading to a higher incidence of genetically unbalanced embryos or other egg factors that affect the developmental potential. In this study, we explored the effects of endometriosis on risk of chromosomally aberrant in miscarried products of conception (POC) after assisted reproductive treatment (ART), including fresh and frozen cycles. Miscarried POCs were collected from EMS patients (N = 102) and non-EMS patients (N = 441).

Cryopreservation of rooster semen is a reproductive technology carried out to boost genetic gain and productivity in commercial flocks of chicken. However, semen freezing significantly reduces the quality and fertilizing potential of spermatozoa. This study examined cryoprotective effects of the mitochondria-targeted antioxidant mitoquinol mesylate added to the freezing extender by assessing post-thaw characteristics of rooster sperm.

Sporadic early miscarriages occur primarily due to embryonic aneuploidy. There is no evidence showing that stress is a direct cause of miscarriage. Yet, despite this, a national US survey and a Japanese survey found that many people mistakenly attributed miscarriage to the mental state or behavior of the women.

Heritable fragile bone disorders (FBDs), ranging from multifactorial to rare monogenic conditions, are characterized by an elevated fracture risk. Validating causative genes and understanding their mechanisms remain challenging. We assessed a semi-high throughput zebrafish screening platform for rapid in vivo functional testing of candidate FBD genes.
