We studied the efficacy and feasibility of using computer-based instruction to provide medication information to hospitalized patients with acute psychotic conditions. Patients were randomly assigned to receive computer-based (n = 21) or personal instruction (n = 21); for the final analyses the computer group was expanded to include 13 patients from a pilot study. Outcome measures were knowledge retention (indicated by changes in test scores) and compliance with medication regimens after discharge (indicated by telephone follow-up at one week, one month, and three months). The subjects reacted positively to the computer program. Knowledge retention and compliance were similar in the computer and control groups. We conclude that psychiatric inpatients admitted for acute care can participate in, and learn from, computerized medication instruction.

: The aim was to evaluate vestibular function in patients with unilateral vestibular schwannoma before and in the short and medium term after surgical treatment to analyze vestibular compensation. The identification of the prognostic factors determining incomplete and slower balance recovery was assessed. Forty-five patients with unilateral vestibular schwannoma treated surgically through the middle cranial fossa and translabyrinthine approach were enrolled in this study.

Despite optimal local control obtained with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT), data on overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of local advanced rectal cancer patients are still equivocal. This meta-analysis aimed to estimate the pathological complete response (pCR), regression rate, DFS, and OS probabilities of rectal cancer patients treated with a second chemotherapy drug added to fluoropyrimidine and long-term radiotherapy. Computerized bibliographic searches of MEDLINE, PUBMED, Web of Science and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases (1970-2023) were supplemented with hand searches of reference lists.

Objective: To develop an original-mirror alignment associated deep learning algorithm for intelligent registration of three-dimensional maxillofacial point cloud data, by utilizing a dynamic graph-based registration network model (maxillofacial dynamic graph registration network, MDGR-Net), and to provide a valuable reference for digital design and analysis in clinical dental applications.
Methods: Four hundred clinical patients without significant deformities were recruited from Peking University School of Stomatology from October 2018 to October 2022. Through data augmentation, a total of 2 000 three-dimensional maxillofacial datasets were generated for training and testing the MDGR-Net algorithm.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcomes and define the indications for a one-stage mandibular reconstruction technique that combines iliac bone flaps with immediate implant-based dentures, and to assess both the accuracy of surgical planning and the long-term success of the procedure.
Methods: A total of ten patients underwent the procedure at Peking University Hospital of Stomatology between June 2020 and August 2023. The preoperative biopsy pathology of all the patients confirmed a benign tumor.
