The frequency of 29A and 29B mutations in the CYP2D6 gene, the most common mutations among Caucasoid PM (debrisoquine 4-hydroxylase defficient) individuals, has been analyzed in the Russian population. For the detection of the 29A mutation, a new one-step ARMS PCR approach has been developed. The frequency of the 29B mutant allele in Russians appeared to be significantly lower than in other Caucasoid populations, and this observation can be explained by the mixed origin of the population inhabiting Russia. Comparative analysis of the mutation frequencies among individuals of various ages showed no age-related differences.

Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) hold great promise for regenerative medicine thanks to their ability to self-renew and differentiate into somatic cells and the germline. ESCs correspond to pluripotent epiblast - the tissue from which the following three germ layers originate during embryonic gastrulation: the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. Importantly, ESCs can be induced to differentiate toward various cell types by varying culture conditions, which can be exploited for modeling of developmental processes such as gastrulation.

Background: Over 60 million patients in the USA have limited English proficiency (LEP) and experience barriers in care. Still, there exists no standardized method of monitoring the utilization of language interpreting services (LIS).
Objective: To introduce a methodological approach to systematically monitor utilization of LIS for LEP patients.
Background: Despite the guidelines' appeal to treat patients with deep vein thrombosis and low-risk pulmonary embolism in outpatient settings, the real-world evidence shows a high prevalence of inpatient therapy leading to unwarranted health resource utilization. The study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban in outpatient settings compared to inpatient treatment.
Methods: A propensity score-matched comparison with a historical inpatient population was performed based on a retrospective analysis of patients with deep vein thrombosis and without pulmonary embolism treated as outpatients with oral rivaroxaban.
