Introduction: Foreign body aspiration is a common life threatening emergency but largely a preventable problem. There is an increase in the number of headscarf pin aspiration cases among young girls as a result of increase in the number of veiling population. With the number of hijab wearing population increasing all over the world, attention must be brought to the risk associated with holding the hijab pins in the mouth.

Background: Headscarf use is becoming more common throughout the world. Many articles describe the problem of aspirated headscarf pins but few if any give technical details for retrieval or innovative methods of removal if traditional bronchoscopy fails particularly in the pediatric population. Herein, we describe our method of deep sedation with laryngeal mask airway (LMA) and flexible bronchoscopy (FB) and retrieval with a stepwise algorithm if traditional FB fails.

Background And Study Aims: Accidental swallowing of hijab (or turban) pin was reported mainly among adolescent girls. Current guidelines indicate emergent intervention endoscopy in case a long sharp object is found in the gastrointestinal tract. The aims of the current study are to present the results of an observational approach and to assess the need for intervention.

Background: Asthma is a heterogeneous disease in which age of onset plays an important role.
Objective: We sought to identify the genetic variants associated with time to asthma onset (TAO).
Methods: We conducted a large-scale meta-analysis of 9 genome-wide association studies of TAO (total of 5462 asthmatic patients with a broad range of age of asthma onset and 8424 control subjects of European ancestry) performed by using survival analysis techniques.
