We report a case of a 48-year-old man in whom type B aortic dissection in the right aortic arch and right descending aorta was diagnosed by transesophageal echocardiography and computed tomographic scan. Angiography was necessary to define the anatomy of the branching vessels. The patient was successfully treated by interposition of a Vascutek 24-mm Dacron woven tube with a right posterolateral thoracotomy approach. Circulatory arrest in profound hypothermia and cerebral retroperfusion were used.

Stanford type B aortic dissection involving the left subclavian artery (LSA) poses significant clinical challenges. The Castor single-branch stent graft and in situ fenestration are commonly used techniques, but the better endovascular treatment remains debated. This study evaluates the clinical effects of the Castor single-branched stent graft versus in situ fenestration in treating Stanford type B aortic dissection involving the LSA.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become a viable treatment option for patients with severe aortic stenosis among all risk subsets. As TAVR use becomes more prevalent and patients live longer with their transcatheter valve, an increasing number of these patients can be expected to present with ACS. Overall, there is a paucity of high-quality data detailing incidence, pathophysiology, and management of ACS in this subset.

Background: Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) has a high mortality, and acute aortic repair is the only curative treatment. In patients treated with factor Xa (FXa) inhibitors, the risk of severe disease-related complications such as cardiac tamponade and hemodynamic shock must be balanced against the potential for severe perioperative bleeding. The aim was to study intraoperative changes in plasma levels of the FXa inhibitor apixaban when using hemoadsorption during acute thoracic aortic repair.

The importance of ferroptosis in the occurrence and progression of atherosclerosis is gradually being recognized. The stimulatory G protein α subunit (Gsα) plays a crucial role in the physiology of endothelial cells (ECs). Our previous study showed that endothelial Gsα could regulate angiogenesis and preserve endothelial permeability.
