Background: The introduction of Direct-Acting Antivirals (DAAs) transformed Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment, despite this uptake of DAAs remains lower than required to meet the WHO Sustainable Development Goal (3.3). Treatment with interferon was suggested to be able to deliver important outcomes for people who use drugs in addition to a viral cure, such as social redemption, and shift from a stigmatised identity.

In this research, the photophysical properties of metformin hydrochloride (MF-HCl) were studied using spectroscopic and molecular docking techniques. The interaction between metformin hydrochloride and caffeine is essential for understanding the pharmacokinetics of metformin, particularly in populations with high caffeine consumption. Metformin is a first-line medication for managing type 2 diabetes, while caffeine is a widely consumed dietary stimulant.

Nanotechnology has experienced significant advancements, attracting considerable attention in various biomedical applications. This innovative study synthesizes and characterizes Ge/PLA/AuNCs (gelatin/PLA/gold nanocomposites) using Syzygium cumini extract to evaluate their various biomedical applications. The UV-Visible spectroscopy results in an absorption peak at 534 nm were primarily confirmed by Ge/PLA/AuNCs synthesis.

Clinical expression of radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and its association with HLA-B27 in European and Ibero-American populations.

J Rheumatol

January 2025

Clementina López-Medina, MD, PhD, Department of Rheumatology, Reina Sofia University Hospital; GC-05 Group, Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba, IMIBIC; Medical and Surgical Sciences, University of Cordoba, Cordoba, Spain.

Objective: To compare the clinical and sociodemographic characteristics of Ibero-American patients with radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (r-axSpA) to those of European patients, with a particular focus on the influence of HLA-B27.

Methods: This was an observational, cross-sectional, and multicentre study of patients who fulfilled the European Spondyloarthropathy Study Group (ESSG) criteria for SpA from the REGISPONSER and RESPONDIA registries. Univariate and multivariate analyses between European and Ibero-American populations stratified by HLA-B27 status were conducted.

Background: In the medical context where polypharmacy is increasingly common, accurately predicting drug-drug interactions (DDIs) is necessary for enhancing clinical medication safety and personalized treatment. Despite progress in identifying potential DDIs, a deep understanding of the underlying mechanisms of DDIs remains limited, constraining the rapid development and clinical application of new drugs.

Methods: This study introduces a novel multimodal drug-drug interaction (MMDDI) model based on multi-source drug data and comprehensive feature fusion techniques, aiming to improve the accuracy and depth of DDI prediction.
