Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune condition characterized by a reduced platelet count due to enhanced peripheral destruction and impaired platelet production. While thrombocytopenia is a well-documented complication of various viral infections, cytomegalovirus (CMV), a member of the Herpesviridae family, is primarily associated with infections in immunocompromised patients and is rarely implicated in causing severe thrombocytopenia in immunocompetent patients. This article aims to highlight the importance of considering CMV as a significant etiological factor in ITP, particularly in cases of asymptomatic thrombocytopenia.

: Angiogenesis is involved in the pathogenesis of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). VEGF, ANG2, TGFβ1, and ENG are the most studied angiogenic factors, but their clinical significance in blood samples is still not completely defined. The genetic study of HHT mutations is the test of choice for diagnosing the disease, but this route is expensive, and the causative mutation is not found in up to 10% of cases.

Nasal carcinomas in dogs are locally invasive neoplasms with a low metastatic rate that pose significant treatment challenges due to their location and aggressiveness. This study evaluates the safety, feasibility, and therapeutic outcomes of computed tomography-guided radiofrequency ablation (CT-guided RFA) in 15 dogs diagnosed with nasal adenocarcinoma. All patients underwent staging and histopathological diagnosis before treatment.

A 2-year-old female entire Golden Retriever with a history of being subdued was seen. Her physical and neurological examinations were initially unremarkable, but she acutely progressed to non-ambulatory paraparesis, with absent cervical or thoracolumbar hyperaesthesia. Magnetic resonance imaging of the vertebral column was performed, showing a well-defined, intradural-extramedullary mass at the level of the caudal aspect of L2 causing right-sided ventrolateral marked cord compression.
