The possibility of using compact nonresorbed hydroxyapatite ceramics as synthetic bone plastic materials is discussed. Results of follow-up of 11 patients with congenital and posttraumatic deformations of the craniofacial skeleton are analyzed, to whom hydroxyapatite-based ceramic blocks were implanted for both contour plasty and for repair of bone defects. Methods of the operations with hydroxyapatite-based implants and titanium devices for fixing bone fragments and ceramic blocks are described.

Sinter-crystallization is a specific method of producing glass-ceramics that allows the manufacture of complexly shaped products, composites and solder. However, it usually is limited when the glass powders used are characterized by a high crystallization trend. This study proposes a new opportunity to improve the sinter-crystallization and demonstrates the benefits of microwave processing using diopside (CaMg(SiO)) glass-ceramics with an enhanced crystallinity of ~70%.

Foam ceramics are widely used in industrial applications due to their unique properties, including high porosity, lightweight, and high-temperature resistance. However, their complex microstructure presents significant challenges for image analysis. Traditional machine learning methods often fall short in capturing both global feature dependencies and detailed representations.

Introduction: The primary objective of any implant system is to achieve firm fixation to the bone, which can be influenced by both biomechanical factors and biomaterial selection. An array of materials is used for the replacement of missing teeth through implantation. The appropriate selection of biomaterials directly influences the clinical success and longevity of implants.

Bonding performance of universal adhesive systems with dual-polymerising resin cements to various dental substrates: in vitro study.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Department of Cariology and Operative Dentistry, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Institute of Science Tokyo, 1-5-45 Yushima, Bunkyo-Ku, Tokyo, 113-8549, Japan.

Background: Resin cements often require substrate-specific pretreatment. Recently, universal adhesive systems have been introduced, simplifying procedures by eliminating the need for multiple adhesives and offering options that do not require light curing. This study investigated the bonding performance of universal adhesive systems combined with dual-polymerising resin cements on enamel, dentin, zirconia, lithium disilicate ceramics (LDS), and resin blocks.
