Introduction: Hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (hv-CRKP) poses an increasing public health risk due to its high treatment difficulty and associated mortality, especially in bone marrow transplant (BMT) patients. The emergence of strains with multiple resistance mechanisms further complicates the management of these infections.
Methods: We isolated and characterized a novel ST11-KL64 hv-CRKP strain from a pediatric bone marrow transplantation patient.

Cytokine storm syndromes such as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD), and COVID-19 cytokine storm (CCS) are characterized by markedly elevated inflammatory cytokines. However clinical measurement of serum cytokines is not widely available. This study examined the clinical utility of C-reactive protein (CRP) and ferritin, two inexpensive and widely available inflammatory markers, for distinguishing HLH from AOSD and CCS.

Background: The management of acute ischemic stroke due to isolated posterior cerebral artery occlusion (iPCAO) remains a topic of debate. This study investigates the efficacy and safety of endovascular treatment (EVT) versus best medical treatment (BMT) in patients with iPCAO.
Methods: A systematic search was conducted across electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, veterinary diagnostic laboratories tested both human and animal samples and needed to ensure that they could accurately perform large numbers of diagnostic tests in a timely manner. Sample pooling, a methodology used effectively for over 80 years as a surveillance tool for screening large numbers of potentially infected individuals, was employed. Given its sensitivity, real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is more suitable for employing this strategy, as compared to other less sensitive testing methods.
