Coronary guidewires with ultrasound transducer tips are commercially available and are appropriately sized for use in coronary interventions. These guidewires permit monitoring of coronary flow before, during and after the interventions. The measured flow signal contains valuable information regarding the quality and the stability of the final result. After completion of the procedure, monitoring the trend in average velocity over several minutes can reveal subtle alterations in flow that may presage abrupt closure. Abnormal or unstable flow patterns also may help predict lesions that might develop recurrences in the weeks and months after successful procedures.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of thoracoscopic minimally invasive surgery with nickel-titanium shape memory alloy wrap bone plate versus rib periosteal internal fixation in patients with multiple rib fractures (MRF) and flail chest.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 100 patients with MRF and flail chest treated with thoracoscopic minimally invasive surgery and internal fixation with rib fracture preservation between January 2019 and December 2022, including 54 males and 46 females, aged from 20 to 65 years old, with an average age of (38.0±18.

Background: Kuwait, one of the world's hottest countries, faces increasing temperatures due to climate change. With a large migrant population predominantly employed in physically demanding jobs, the exact effects and burdens of temperature exposure on cardiovascular risk among this population remain unknown. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between temperature and myocardial infarction (MI) risk among migrants in Kuwait.

The need for effective early detection and optimal therapy monitoring of cardiovascular diseases as the leading cause of death has led to an adaptation of the guidelines with a focus on cardiac computed tomography (CCTA) in patients with a low to intermediate risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). In particular, the introduction of photon-counting computed tomography (PCCT) in CT diagnostics promises significant advances through higher temporal and spatial resolution, and also enables advanced texture analysis, known as radiomics analysis. Originally developed in oncological imaging, radiomics analysis is increasingly being used in cardiac imaging and research.

Aims: To determine which patient and cardiac arrest factors were associated with obtaining neuroimaging after in-hospital cardiac arrest, and among those patients who had neuroimaging, factors associated with which neuroimaging modality was obtained.
Methods: Retrospective cohort study of patients who survived in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) and were enrolled in the ICU-RESUS trial (NCT02837497).
Results: We tabulated ultrasound (US), CT, and MRI frequency within 7 days following IHCA and identified patient and cardiac arrest factors associated with neuroimaging modalities utilized.

Recently human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC-CMs) have become an attractive platform to evaluate drug responses for cardiotoxicity testing and disease modeling. Moreover, three-dimensional (3D) cardiac models, such as engineered heart tissues (EHTs) developed by bioengineering approaches, and cardiac spheroids (CSs) formed by spherical aggregation of hPSC-CMs, have been established as useful tools for drug discovery and transplantation. These 3D models overcome many of the shortcomings of conventional 2D hPSC-CMs, such as immaturity of the cells.
