This article advances the most current concepts in the management of poisoned patients including the use of ipecac, lavage, activated charcoal, whole-bowel irrigation, and specific antidotes. The benefits vs the risks of each of these procedures are reviewed.

Objective: To summarise evidence on the clinical effectiveness of initial vascular attempts via the intraosseous route compared to the intravenous route in adult cardiac arrest.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE and Embase (OVID platform), the Cochrane library, and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform from inception to September 4 2024 for randomised clinical trials comparing the intraosseous route with the intravenous route in adult cardiac arrest. Our primary outcome was 30-day survival.

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) can release cyanotoxins such as microcystins (MCs), especially, microcystin-leucine-arginine (MC-LR) which is one of the commonest and most toxic, into our water bodies and can lead to several acute or chronic diseases such as liver diseases and respiratory irritation in humans. There is an increasing need for rapid and simple detection of MC-LR in water bodies for early warning of HABs. In this study, we developed an innovative on-site screening electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) biosensor with a simplified calibration curve that can rapidly detect blooms for early action in similar water bodies.
