This review analyses the diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic aspects of a first epileptic crisis occurring in adult patients. Although it is generally accepted that a cranial CT scan is indicated after the first crisis in order to rule out a structural cerebral lesion after the first crisis, the need for cerebral MR studies in such cases is debatable. The decision to begin anticonvulsant treatment is very controversial, mainly because of the difficulty in assessing the risk of recurrence in any given person. In each case this decision should be reached after bearing in mind the factors indicating risk of recurrence, the patient's personal condition, their work and their own opinion.

The tendon-bone interface, known as the tenosynovial union or attachment, can be easily damaged by excessive exercise or trauma. Tendon-bone healing is a significant research topic in orthopedics, encompassing various aspects of sports injuries and postoperative recovery. Surgery is the most common treatment; however, it has limited efficacy in promoting tendon-bone healing and carries a risk of postoperative recurrence, necessitating the search for more effective treatments.

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and C-reactive protein (CRP) are biomacromolecules known as cancer and inflammatory markers. Thus, they play a crucial role in early cancer diagnosis, post-treatment recurrence detection, and tumor risk assessment. This paper describes the development of an ultrasensitive and selective imprinted paper-based analytical device (PAD) as impedance sensor for determination of CEA and CRP in serum samples for point-of-care testing (POCT).

The presence of an aberrant right hepatic artery (a-RHA) could influence the oncological and postoperative outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). A comparative study was conducted, including patients who underwent PD with a-RHA or with normal RHA anatomy. The primary endpoints were R1 resection in all margins (pancreatic, anterior, posterior, superior mesenteric artery, and portal groove), overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent form of liver cancer, and ranks among the most lethal malignancies globally, primarily due to its high rates of recurrence and metastasis. Despite the urgency, no reliable biomarkers currently exist for predicting tumor recurrence in HCC. Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) promoter mutations (TERTpm) and cellular tumor antigen p53 mutations (TP53m) have been frequently documented in HCC, but their combined clinical significance remains undefined.

Breast cancer, with its high incidence and mortality globally, necessitates early prediction of local and distant recurrence to improve treatment outcomes. This study develops and validates predictive models for breast cancer recurrence and metastasis using Recurrence-Free Survival Analysis and machine learning techniques. We merged datasets from the Molecular Taxonomy of Breast Cancer International Consortium, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Duke University, and the SEER program, creating a comprehensive dataset of 272, 252 rows and 23 columns.
