Published: April 1996

Ultrasonography in reptiles is a safe, noninvasive repeatable diagnostic imagine method. Size, volume and inner structure of organs can easily be determined. Based on 460 ultrasonographic examinations in 8 species of terrapins, 12 species of snakes and 22 species of lizard normal appearance of heart, gonads, fat bodies, kidneys, bladder and gastrointestinal tract are described. Pathological findings are explained in details using examples.

In the present study, the impact of ultrasonication treatment (US) at varying time duration (10 and 20 min) on pearl millet protein (PMP) was evaluated. The native and ultrasonicated PMP were evaluated for techno-functional properties, zeta potential, particle size, SEM, FTIR, thermal properties and dynamic rheology. The significant (p < 0.

This study aims to enhance the emulsifying properties of soybean peptide aggregates (SPA) by preparing SPA-soluble soybean polysaccharide (SSPS) composite particles at the assistance of ultrasound technique. The optimal pH for SPA and SSPS complexation was determined by measuring the charge and particle size of the composites. The effects of ultrasound power and duration on the physicochemical properties of the composite particles were assessed through measurements of particle size, zeta potential, contact angle, FTIR, and SEM.

Adding value to food by-products, such as pumpkin seeds, is an important strategy for the complete utilization of plant foods and advancing sustainability goals. This study aimed to maximize the production of bioactive peptides from pumpkin seed protein (PSP) by combining ultrasonic (US) pretreatment (40 kHz, 23.8 W/L) with enzymatic hydrolysis.

Mitral and aortic annular calcification is an age-related degenerative process that can result in severe mitral and/or aortic stenosis and/or regurgitation. Annular calcification not only increases the surgical complexity but also increases the risk of complications. In this case report, we present the innovative use of the Sonopet ultrasonic surgical aspirator for aortic and mitral annular decalcification in a patient with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, mild aortic stenosis and moderate mitral regurgitation in the presence of mitral annular calcification (MAC) and aorto-mitral curtain calcification.

The most common cause of rotator cuff injury is supraspinatus tendon tears (STTs). High-intensity laser therapy (HILT) has recently emerged as an important conservative treatment option. This study was designed as a randomised controlled trial in patients with partial STTs to compare the effects of HILT with those of ultrasound (US) therapy.
