Remote (from 1 to 18 years) results of mandibular defect repair were followed up in 64 patients, to whom auto- and allografts and implants of glass ceramics were implanted. A relatively low incidence of complications in patients with glass ceramic implants demonstrates its advantages over other materials for plastic repair of mandibular defects.

One of the key factors of the interaction 'osteoplastic material-organism' is the state of the implant surface. Taking into account the fact that the equilibrium in regeneration conditions is reached only after the reparative histogenesis process is completed, the implant surface is constantly modified. This work is devoted to the numerical description of the dynamic bilateral material-medium interaction under close to physiological conditions, as well as to the assessment of the comparability of the model with and experimental results.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how β-tricalcium phosphate affects bone healing in rabbit mandibles after a defect is created.
  • The research involved adult male rabbits, comparing a control group with a natural healing process against an experimental group treated with β-tricalcium phosphate over an 84-day period.
  • Results showed significant regenerative changes in the experimental group, leading to an increase in bone tissue volume that ultimately matched the control group by the end of the study.

Microscopic changes in the lung biopsies of 16 adult patients of both sexes without clear clinical symptoms are described. According to X-ray examination data, disseminated process in the lungs was diagnosed in 4 patients, interstitial pneumonia in 4, osteoplastic pneumopathy in 3, as well as tuberculosis, bronchiolitis and a number of others. Microscopic examination showed that the patients had various forms of petrification and ossification of the lungs, diagnosed clinically and radiologically in only 3 cases.

Objective: For frontal sinus inverted papilloma (FSIP) management, an endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) can be combined (or not) with an external approach by an osteoplastic flap (OPF) or with a more conservative open approach. The present study aims to describe our experience in the management of FSIP, focusing on disease-related and anatomical features influencing outcomes and recurrence.

Methods: This case series of FSIP investigated anatomical and disease-related predictors of recurrence associated with EEA or a combined EEA-OPF approach.

Unlabelled: Traumatic thumb amputation is a serious injury that requires replantation or reconstruction. Toe-to-thumb transfers method have great survival and patient satisfaction in thumb reconstruction. Alternative method like Iliac Crest Bone Graft (ICBG) with flaps may help surgeons achieve maximum results.
