Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has become a pivotal tool in diagnosing brain diseases, with a wide array of computer-aided artificial intelligence methods being proposed to enhance diagnostic accuracy. However, early studies were often limited by small-scale datasets and a narrow range of disease types, which posed challenges in model generalization. This study presents UniBrain, a hierarchical knowledge-enhanced pre-training framework designed for universal brain MRI diagnosis.

Text-guided visual understanding is a potential solution for downstream task learning in echocardiography. It can reduce reliance on labeled large datasets and facilitate learning clinical tasks. This is because the text can embed highly condensed clinical information into predictions for visual tasks.

Environmental DNA (eDNA) is emerging as a valuable tool for generating standardised biodiversity data. Whether used alone or alongside conventional surveys, it is expected that eDNA data can improve conservation planning, but this remains largely untested. Here, we assessed the value of eDNA data for making more robust conservation prioritisation decisions, by comparing errors made when identifying priority areas based on conventional data, eDNA or a combination of both.

Despite decades of emission control measures aimed at improving air quality, Los Angeles (LA) continues to experience severe ozone pollution during the summertime. We incorporate cooking volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions in a chemical transport model and evaluate it against observations in order to improve the model representation of the present-day ozone chemical regime in LA. Using this updated model, we investigate the impact of adopting zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) on ozone pollution with increased confidence.

As the United States' population ages, it is also becoming more diverse. The country's Older Americans Act requires county-level offices on aging to be both service and information providers. But it is unclear to what extent offices on aging can identify gaps within the aging services information they provide and improve efforts to meet the information needs of diverse older adults.
