Background: Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (uUTIs) are common bacterial infections.
Aim: Evaluate the burden of uUTI in England for 1) potential determinants of disease progression; 2) extent and impact of antimicrobial prescribing non-concordant with treatment guidelines; and 3) economic burden and costs.
Design & Setting: Retrospective cohort study utilising patient data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) linked to English Hospital Episodes Statistics.

Background: Atrial Fibrillation (AF) causes up to 20% of ischaemic strokes and 30% in some populations such as those over 80 years. Previous research in our population showed that widespread adoption of Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC) prophylaxis had not been associated with a reduction in AF associated stroke prevalence but there was a considerable rate of breakthrough stroke in patients receiving anticoagulation and anticoagulation rate may be affected by increasing use of DOACs.
Aims: We undertook a more detailed study using the Irish National Audit of Stroke (INAS) to determine the characteristics of anticoagulation practice in AF associated stroke, particularly breakthrough stroke, adherence to prescribing guidelines and effect on thrombolysis rate.

As awareness of the value of genetic counseling services increases, there has been greater recognition of the need to diversify service delivery into different languages. Studies within genetic counseling and related fields have identified complications that can arise from language nonconcordance between provider and patient. A strategy to mitigate language barriers is prioritizing the development of a multilingual workforce of genetic counselors (GCs) who can communicate with patients in their preferred language.

Objectives: A smear review is typically made in flagged differential counts performed with hematology analyzers although the clinical value of such reviews is uncertain. Therefore, we evaluated the differences in differential counts between Sysmex XN-9000 and a smear review in flagged samples. Furthermore, the clinical value of blasts identified was investigated.

Introduction: Testing for homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) as a biomarker in relation to poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor (PARPi) treatment in ovarian cancer is done by sequencing of the BRCA1/2 genes and/or by assessing a genomic instability signature. Here we present data obtained with two different methods for genomic instability testing: the Oncomine™ Comprehensive Assay Plus (OCA Plus) NGS panel and the OncoScan CNV assay.
Methods: The retrospective analytical study included 80 ovarian cancer samples of patients previously referred to clinical Myriad testing (reference cohort), and 50 ovarian cancer samples from patients collected as part of the Pelvic Mass study.
