Background: Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) based on the detection of Plasmodium falciparum histidine rich protein 2 (PfHRP2) are widely used for the diagnostic of P. falciparum in Africa. However, deletions of the pfhrp2 and pfhrp3 genes can lead to false negative test results and compromise appropriate case management.

Background/objectives: A late HIV diagnosis represents a significant public health concern in Poland, with approximately 50% of patients being identified as late presenters (LPs), resulting in the delayed initiation of treatment. This study assesses the potential of HIV self-testing (HIVST) to enhance early detection, particularly among heterosexual individuals, and evaluates its advantages and limitations within the Polish context.
Methods: This study examines the advantages and disadvantages of HIVST by analyzing data from various studies.

Purpose: The prevalence of pre-invasive lesions (PIL) of cervix in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-seropositive women ranges from 12.5 to 69%. Although Papanicolaou (PAP) test is the recommended screening method, it has concerns owing to high false-negative cytology in HIV-infected women and is associated with high attrition rates.
