Remote research studies are an invaluable tool for reaching populations with limited access to large medical centers or universities. To expand the remote study toolkit, we previously developed homeRNA, which allows for at-home self-collection and stabilization of blood and demonstrated the feasibility of using homeRNA in high temperature climates. Here, we expand upon this work through a systematic study exploring the effects of high temperature on RNA integrity (represented as RNA Integrity Number, RIN) through in-lab and field experiments.

Stress-induced plant volatiles play an important role in mediating ecological interactions between plants and their environment. The timing and location of the inflicted damage is known to influence the quality and quantity of induced volatile emissions. However, how leaf characteristics and herbivore feeding behaviour interact to shape volatile emissions is not well understood.

Background: Junctional rhythm (JR) frequently occurs during radiofrequency (RF) ablation procedures targeting the slow pathway (SP) for atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT), signaling successful ablation. Two types of JR have been noticed: typical JR as His activation preceding atrial activation, and atypical JR as atrial activation preceding the His activation. Nevertheless, the origin and characteristics of JR remain incompletely defined.

Host-seeking behavior of Culicoides species was examined from 2018 to 2019 in West Bengal, India, which elucidated diel activity, feeding success, attack rate, biting rate, and preferential landing of adult Culicoides on the cattle. A comparative assessment was done between the light trap and the aspirator. The host-seeking experiment involved a substantial timeframe of 297 h of catch collections over 27 nights.

Forming defect sites on catalyst supports and immobilizing precious metal atoms at these sites offers an efficient approach for preparing single-atom catalysts. In this study, we employed an Fe-Ce oxide solid solution (FC), which has surface oxygen that reduces more readily than that of ceria, to anchor Rh single atoms (Rh). When utilized in the selective catalytic reduction of NO with CO (CO-SCR), Rh/FC reduced at 500 °C-characterized by less oxidic Rh state induced by an oxygen-deficient coordination-exhibited superior activity and durability compared to Rh/ceria and Rh/FC reduced at 300 °C.
