Objectives: To investigate whether sperm production has changed during the past 16 years in the Toulouse area of France.

Design: Time series analysis of sperm donors' specimens between 1977 and 1992.

Setting: Sperm bank of university hospital in Toulouse, France.

Subjects: 302 healthy fertile men candidate sperm donors more than 20 and up to 45 years old and without any infertile brothers.

Main Outcome Measure: Spermatozoa concentration.

Results: Donors' mean age at time of donation was 34.05 (SD 5.13), but this increased significantly (P<0.001) during the study, from 32.4 in 1977 to 36 in 1992. Mean sperm count of samples was 83.12x10(6)/ml (SD 68.42x10(6)/ml). Sperm concentration was positively linked to the year of donation (Pearson's coefficient r=0.12, P<0.05), but this correlaton disappeared after adjustment for age of donors (r=0.09,P>0.05).

Conclusion: Sperm concentration has not changed with time in the Toulouse area.

This narrative review synthesizes evidence on the impact of sleep on athletic performance, the prevalence and causes of sleep disturbances, and effective monitoring and intervention strategies to enhance sleep quality and duration. A comprehensive review of case studies, observational studies, randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses was conducted using PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar up to July 2024. Sleep plays a crucial role in the overall well-being and performance of athletes, yet sleep issues are highly prevalent due to factors such as competition schedules, psychological stress, and travel across time zones.

Calcium levels modulate embryo yield in microspore embryogenesis.

Front Plant Sci

Cell Biology Group - Instituto para la Conservación y Mejora de la Agrodiversidad Valenciana (COMAV) Institute, Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain.

Calcium (Ca) is a universal signaling cation with a prominent role as second messenger in many different plant processes, including sexual reproduction. However, there is much less knowledge about the involvement of Ca during embryogenesis processes. In this work we performed a study of Ca levels during the different stages of microspore embryogenesis in , with special attention to how Ca can influence the occurrence of different embryogenic structures with different embryogenic potential.

Introduction: Physical activity is becoming more important in cancer patient care. However, there are limited studies investigating physical activity levels in cancer survivors after pancreaticoduodenectomy. This study aims to assess the present status of physical activity levels in cancer survivors after pancreaticoduodenectomy and whether perioperative metrics and length of follow-up have an impact on physical activity levels in survivorship.

January 2025

Department of General Medicine, Chongqing University Central Hospital, Chongqing Emergency Medical Center, Chongqing Key Laboratory of Emergency Medicine, Chongqing, China.

() is associated with the development of various stomach diseases, one of the major risk factors for stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD). The infection score between tumor and normal groups was compared by single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA). The key modules related to infection were identified by weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA), and functional enrichment analysis was conducted on these module genes.

Background: During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, dominant viral variants were repeatedly replaced by new variants with altered properties, frequently changing the dynamics of the infection event, as well as the effectiveness of vaccines and therapeutics. SARS-CoV-2 variant monitoring by whole genome sequencing was established at the University Medical Center Mainz, Germany to support patient management during the pandemic.

Methods: SARS-CoV-2 RNA samples from the University Medical Center were analysed weekly with whole genome sequencing.
