Introduction: Costochondral grafting is well-known reconstructive option for the temporomandibular joint. In the upper extremity, non-vascularized costochondral grafts have been used for radial head reconstruction, for osteoarthritis of the trapeziometacarpal joint and proximal pole reconstruction of the scaphoid. Evidence suggests that vascularization of bone grafts lead to a higher union rate and a faster time to union.

Background: Ankle arthrodesis is the most frequently performed salvage procedure for pyogenic arthritis. However, its failed fusion rate of approximately 15% has been considered problematic. This study is to evaluate the effectiveness of autologous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) combined with ultra-pulsed carbon dioxide laser in treating cancellous bone-exposed wounds. A total of 65 patients with cancellous bone-exposed wounds were retrospectively analyzed selected. There were 35 cases in ultra-pulsed carbon dioxide laser + PRF group (Laser group, group L), and 30 cases in routine surgical debridement + PRF group (Routine group, group R).
