Insights into the underlying immunological mechanisms of prophylactic sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) may support the development of new strategies for improved prevention and treatment of food allergy. Here, we investigated the humoral, regulatory and sublingual tissue immune response to prophylactic SLIT administration of a single purified peanut allergen in Brown Norway (BN) rats. BN rats received daily sublingual administration of peanut allergen Ara h 6 for three weeks.

Distinguishing anti-D, anti- C, and anti-G specificities is particularly essential in antenatal cases to ensure proper patient management. The clinical management as well as Rh immune globulin (RhIG) prophylaxis depend on the accurate identification of these distinct antibodies. D- pregnant women with anti-G, but without anti-D, in their serum need RhIG prophylaxis at 28 weeks of gestation, at delivery if the infant is D+, and when clinically indicated to prevent the formation of anti-D and potential hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN).

Background: Paediatric patients undergoing surgery for congenital heart disease (CHD) are at risk for postoperative low cardiac output syndrome (LCOS) and mortality. LCOS affects up to 25% of children after heart surgery. It consists of reduced myocardial function and increases postoperative morbidity, prolongs mechanical ventilation, and lengthens the duration of intensive care unit (ICU) stay.

The K antigen is a major cause of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). K-HDFN is unique in that it can result in destruction of not just mature erythrocytes but fetal erythrocyte progenitors, causing severe fetal anemia earlier in pregnancy than other antigens. This poses a danger to fetal health as intrauterine transfusion (IUT), the preferred method of managing HDFN, becomes riskier earlier in pregnancy.

Morphine and other synthetic opioids are widely prescribed to treat pain. Prolonged morphine exposure can paradoxically enhance pain sensitivity in humans and nociceptive behavior in rodents. To better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying opioid-induced hyperalgesia, we investigated changes in miRNA composition of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) from the serum of mice after a morphine treatment paradigm that induces hyperalgesia.
