The experiments on 6-Gy irradiated rats have revealed that the new biologically active substance. Glucosuccine has a radioprotective effect which depends upon the route of administration. The agent was demonstrated to produce a profound radioprotective rather than therapeutical effects. Its administration for 30 days proved to be less effective than its triple use prior to and following irradiation.

Cutaneous tissue is one of the main targets of outdoor stressors, and nowadays, the effect of pollution on skin conditions and premature skin ageing has been well correlated, although the exact effect that different pollutants have on the skin has not been well defined, especially when compared to other stressors. Among the air pollutants, UV radiation and particulate matter (PM) have been found among the most aggressive in terms of skin damage, inducing oxinflammatory responses, promoting degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) components, and compromising the cutaneous defensive barrier. Topical application of technologies able to prevent oxidative damage is still one of the best approaches to protect our skin, and considering the well-known antioxidant network, application of an antioxidant mixture is more recommended than a single compound.

Cisplatin causes permanent hearing loss or cisplatin-induced ototoxicity in over 50% of treated patients with cancer, leading to significant social and functional limitations. Interindividual variability in developing hearing loss suggests the role of genetic predispositions to cisplatin-induced hearing loss. We investigated genetic associations between cisplatin-induced ototoxicity and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), an immune receptor known to mediate inflammatory responses to cisplatin.

Unleashing T cell function is critical for efficacious cancer immunotherapy. Here, we present an T cell activation strategy by silencing Casitas B-lineage lymphoma proto-oncogene b (Cbl-b), an intracellular checkpoint, to effectively combat solid tumors. The polymersomes are able to efficiently load and deliver siRNA against to T cells both and , successfully silencing the gene expression in primary T cells and enhancing the IL-2 receptor CD25 expression, which in turn enhances T cell function and prevents T cell exhaustion.

Blue light poses a risk of retinal damage with excessive exposure. BlingLife-marigold extract (BLM) is an alcohol extract of magrigold, which contains abundant lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin. This study aimed to explore the role and potential mechanisms of BLM in blue light-induced retinal damage both in vivo and in vitro.

Patients undergoing radiation therapy experience debilitating side effects because of toxicity arising from radiation-induced DNA strand breaks in normal peritumoural cells. Here, inspired by the ability of tardigrades to resist extreme radiation through the expression of a damage-suppressor protein that binds to DNA and reduces strand breaks, we show that the local and transient expression of the protein can reduce radiation-induced DNA damage in oral and rectal epithelial tissues (which are commonly affected during radiotherapy for head-and-neck and prostate cancers, respectively). We used ionizable lipid nanoparticles supplemented with biodegradable cationic polymers to enhance the transfection efficiency and delivery of messenger RNA encoding the damage-suppressor protein into buccal and rectal tissues.
