Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection or reactivation in immune-compromised individuals can lead to a wide range of severe complications including hepatitis. However, its relation with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) induced hepatitis (ICI-hepatitis) and tumor responses in advanced melanoma patients remains unclear. Hundred and ninety metastatic cutaneous melanoma patients (mCM) who received ICI treatment, with CMV IgG or IgM information available at baseline, were included in the study (Cohort 1).

Background: Physical exercise improves overall brain health, cognition, and stimulates the release of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in humans. Exercise upregulates irisin, a myokine derived from fibronectin type III domain-containing protein 5 (FNDC5) previously shown to mediate the beneficial actions of exercise on memory in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here, we investigated if physical exercise upregulates EVs.

Background: Clusterin, a multifunctional glycoprotein, is implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis due to its roles in Aβ aggregation and clearance. Hence, understanding the specific interactions between Clusterin and Aβ would be a crucial for unraveling AD mechanisms and exploring therapeutic avenues. Previous study reported that clusterin bound with Aβ directly.

Background: Chronic heavy alcohol drinking may be a modifiable risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD), but studies in rodent AD models more closely mimic chronic moderate alcohol drinking in humans and largely focus on the brain. The role of the liver, which is significantly impacted by chronic heavy alcohol intake, in driving brain changes in alcohol-dependent AD remains unexplored. Our study using intragastric-ethanol feeding, which mimics chronic heavy alcohol intake in humans, in C57BL/6J mice showed significant AD-relevant changes in the brain and liver.

Background: Inflammation is central to Alzheimer Disease (AD), as astrocyte reactivity accompanies the appearance of Aβ and phosphorylated tau (Bellaver et al., 2023). As expected, therefore, AD patients have elevated levels of CSF inflammatory cytokines (Onyango et al.
