A 53-year-old woman presented to the surgical emergency with complaints of high-grade fever accompanied by chills for 15 days and pain in the right upper abdomen for 10 days. X-ray of the abdomen and chest X-ray revealed free gas under the right hemidiaphragm. As there were no signs of generalised or localised peritonitis, emergency laparotomy was postponed.

Objective: To evaluate the relevance of established surgical risk calculators for predicting complications in patients undergoing percutaneous lung cryoablation (PLC).
Methods: The institution's database was queried for PLC procedures from March 2015 to May 2024, excluding those patients with concomitant local therapies or five or more lesions treated in a single setting. Demographics, frailty metrics as defined by the surgical literature, and procedural variables were collected.

Emphysematous cystitis (EC) is a rare, life-threatening urinary tract infection (UTI) characterized by gas formation within the bladder wall and lumen. It predominantly occurs in patients with poorly controlled diabetes. We present a case of a 61-year-old male with poorly controlled diabetes and chronic alcoholism who was admitted in a comatose state due to severe septic shock secondary to EC.
