Objective: To compare the efficacy of danazol and a GnRH agonist as preoperative preparation for hysteroscopic metroplasty in women with septate uterus.
Design: Prospective randomized clinical study.
Setting: Tertiary care center.
Patients: Thirty patients with septate uterus.
Interventions: The patients were randomized to treatment with danazol 600 mg/d for 2 to 4 weeks (n = 15) or with leuprolide acetate depot 3.75 mg for 2 months (n = 15) as preoperative therapy for hysteroscopic metroplasty.
Main Outcome Measures: At the intervention the hysteroscopist evaluated difficulty in dilation of the cervical canal, presence of endometrial fragments, bleeding, difficulty in maneuvering the resectoscope, and operating time.
Results: Both the treatments were well tolerated. Metroplasty was simpler overall in the danazol group and also faster in introducing the resectoscope through the cervical canal and maneuvering it in the uterine cavity were both easier. Bleeding was modest in both groups and the anatomic outcome of the operation was similar.
Conclusion: Short preoperative preparation with danazol results in favorable operating conditions at limited costs with minimal side effects.

Aim: An end colostomy is a potentially life-saving surgical intervention, but postoperative ostomy management is challenging in resource-limited settings. Socioeconomic, health system, and surgical capacity barriers may delay colostomy reversal. A surgery camp model for addressing the burden of unreversed colostomies has not previously been undertaken in Malawi.

Our quality improvement initiative aimed to reduce emergency department (ED) visits within 30 days postsurgery by enhancing preoperative education.
Methods: We focused on four outcomes associated with receipt of written preoperative information: (1) related ED visits within 30 days of surgery, (2) average number of patient portal messages, (3) phone calls initiated by patients, and (4) staff team experience survey results.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and safety of the semi-active robotic system for implant placement in atrophic posterior maxilla.
Methods: Patients underwent robot-assisted implant placement in atrophic posterior maxilla were identified and included. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) was performed before surgery.

Importance: An increasing number of older adults are undergoing surgery. Older adults face significant challenges throughout the spectrum of perioperative care. No frameworks exist to support primary care clinicians in helping older adults navigate perioperative care beyond preoperative medical clearance.
