In the last five years, several measurements of 22Na+ influx (Ji) and outflux (Jo) across symmetrical parts of the isolated skin of Rana esculenta, under permanent short circuitation, were performed in our Institute. The mean value of the 22Na+ net fluxes (Ji-Jo) exceeded the mean value of the short circuit current measurements (1.14 +/- 0.04 versus 0.98 +/- 0.02 microE.cm-2.h-1, 253 experiments). Since this discrepancy could be due to a concomitant Cl- net absorption, 36Cl- unidirectional fluxes were detected under similar experimental conditions. The Cl- net flux mean value was 0.11 +/- 0.02 microE.cm-2.h-1 (316 experiments) which accounts for 70% of the discrepancy between the Na+ net flux and short circuit current. This Cl- net absorption occurred in the absence of electrochemical gradients and was very likely maintained by a Na+/K+/2Cl- cotransport located at the outermost membrane of the epithelium. In fact bumetanide challenge (10(-5) M in the external fluid) strongly inhibited 36Cl- influx and 22Na+ influx across this tissue and cleared off the discrepancy between short circuit current and sodium net flux.

The rising incidence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) poses significant challenges to traditional diagnostic methods, which primarily rely on neuropsychological assessments and brain MRIs. The advent of deep learning in medical diagnosis opens new possibilities for early AD detection. In this study, we introduce retinal vessel segmentation methods based on U-Net ad iterative registration Learning (ReIU), which extract retinal vessel maps from OCT angiography (OCT-A) facilities.

Aphasia is a common consequence of a stroke which affects language processing. In search of an objective biomarker for aphasia, we used EEG to investigate how functional network patterns in the cortex are affected in persons with post-stroke chronic aphasia (PWA) compared to healthy controls (HC) while they are listening to a story. EEG was recorded from 22 HC and 27 PWA while they listened to a 25-min-long story.

Objective: Based on the machine learning algorithm, construct a hypothermia prediction model for gynecological tumor resection under laparoscopic general anesthesia.
Methods: This research conducted a retrospective analysis, gathering data from individuals who had undergone minimally invasive surgical procedures for gynecological tumors in a Chinese Hospital, ranging from June 2018 to August 2024. During this timeframe, a total of 308 cases were examined for analysis, with 70% of the cases allocated to the modeling dataset and the remaining 30% designated for the validation dataset.

Frank's sign (FS) is a diagnostic marker associated with aging and various health conditions. Despite its clinical significance, there lacks a standardized method for its identification. This study aimed to develop a deep learning model for automated FS detection in 3D facial images derived from MRI scans.

In this work, we reexamine the Dailey-Townes model by systematically investigating the electric field gradient (EFG) in various chlorine compounds, dihalogens, and the uranyl ion (). Through the use of relativistic molecular calculations and projection analysis, we decompose the EFG expectation value in terms of atomic reference orbitals. We show how the Dailey-Townes model can be seen as an approximation to our projection analysis.
