Toxic-induced cerebellar syndrome (TOICS) poses substantial neurological challenges, given its diverse causes and complex manifestations. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have gained significant attention owing to enhanced biocompatibility for therapeutic interventions. We aimed to investigate the impacts of AuNPs on cerebellar cytomolecular, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural alterations in the context of phenytoin-experimentally induced TOICS.

eNOS-deficient mice were previously shown to develop hypertension and metabolic alterations associated with insulin resistance either in standard dietary conditions (eNOS-/- homozygotes) or upon high-fat diet (HFD) (eNOS+/- heterozygotes). In the latter heterozygote model, the present study investigated the pancreatic morphological changes underlying the abnormal glycometabolic phenotype. C57BL6 wild type (WT) and eNOS+/- mice were fed with either chow or HFD for 16 weeks.

Background: The placenta of hystricomorph rodents, lagomorphs and some primates includes an unusual structure, termed a subplacenta, which essentially consists of trophoblastic cells located deep to the central implantation site within the area of decidualization. It has been suggested that the subplacenta is functionally important, although considerable controversy remains on the issue. In this context, our objective was to compare the architecture and structure of the subplacentas of different hystricomorph species, to investigate the possibility that it is active in hormone synthesis.

Background: Myelination is a sequential process that is tightly controlled by a number of intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Any central nervous system disease in which the neuronal myelin sheath is damaged is referred to as demyelinating disease. The present work was designed to study the histopathological, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical changes in rat brain, mainly corpus callosum (CC), following oral administration of cuprizone (CPZ), and the role of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in reducing these changes.

Microsporidian spores contain a single polar filament that is coiled around the interior of the spore. Upon germination the polar tube (post-germination polar filament) is ejected by inversion into a host cell. The sporoplasm flows through the polar tube, directly infecting the cytoplasm of the cell.
